What's wrong with my WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) Software?
There are programs out there that allow those with no knowledge of web development to build their own site using a design view called a WYSIWYG editor. There are drawbacks to using this kind of software such as:
- Many programs create bad code that doesn't validate by W3C standards
- A lot of unnecessary code is used (creating more for search engines to read through)
- Many use depricated HTML tags such as <font>, <b>, <i>
- Paste something from MS Word into one and view the source code for fun times!

Site navigation is very important and search engines must be able to follow it. Using flash or javascripted menu links can get you in trouble as some search engine spiders will ignore the links to other pages of your site and not go to visit.

optimised code for ranking
Search engines read your webpages from the code view. They take a look and only read a certain amount of the code before moving on to look at another page. (This is where a lot of WYSIWYG editors fail, adding a LOT of useless code at the top of the page).
Page loading time also comes into affect - optimised code (and images!) are a must to make sure slower connections don't give up on your site.
